I served on the Community Table Board of Directors as their Vice President for over 7; and my largest concern is those who work all day and all night and still cannot afford a home for their family. I have witness, the invisible homeless, the single parent living out of their car with their two kids, no stable home and barely enough money to have a small meal. Arvada has become a very expensive place to own a home. Did you know that you have to make over $75k annually just to break even and survive living in Arvada? As City Council, we must start stepping up to the plate and help address this growing issue. This impacts our seniors, our college graduates (who return home because they cannot afford a place of their own), and those who work all day and all night and still cannot find any decent and affordable housing. I will continue to be that voice, protecting our future, our citizens and our community.

Society must change, our culture must change, if we don’t change then we must demand our legislation to make the change! Our communities and future generations do not deserve to grow up in fear of not coming home, where such horrible acts are happening at any time, at any place. Is that what we want our society to be?
